Summer Camps 2026

Content

This summer, dive into Alberta's history with our Summer Camps! Our week-long summer camps will be full of discovery as we explore fascinating topics from Alberta’s cultural and natural history! Led by experienced educators, campers will get hands-on with REAL museum objects and specimens, go behind-the-scenes to meet and learn from experts at the museum, and take part in a variety of engaging activities such as games, gallery exploring, and crafts.

Did you know we also offer Summer Camps in French? Fluency not required, these bilingual camps are appropriate for French-speakers of all levels. Visit our Camps du Jour page for information in French, or scroll down to see our French camp options. 

Campers can also add on a nutritious Cafe lunch to their registration for $70 per week. Please see the FAQ for menu information.

Mysteries at the Museum

Grades 2 - 6
July 6 - 10

Mysteries at the Museum invites curious campers entering Grades 2 to 6 to step behind the scenes and discover the secrets hidden in the museum’s collections. Throughout the week, participants become junior detectives as they solve hands‑on puzzles, decode clues, and investigate unusual and mysterious artifacts. Campers explore collection spaces rarely seen by the public, examine real objects up close and learn how archaeologists uncover stories from the past. It’s an adventure filled with curiosity, creativity and the thrill of solving history’s mysteries! Each week of camp will include a variety of games, crafts and opportunities for outdoor play.

Museum Secrets (French camp)

Grades 3 - 6
July 13 - 17

Museum Secrets camp is looking for curious and resourceful campers in Grades 3–6! Have you always wanted to know how a museum works? How does our team prepare all the objects, from bones and fossils to uniforms and much more? Discover what goes on behind the scenes and the secrets we keep hidden in our vaults. You’ll learn how we create exhibits and how our team cares for objects and animals, both live and taxidermied. You’ll become a member of our team and learn almost all our secrets as you explore and meet our experts. All camps include outdoor activities, games, crafts, and gallery visits.

Junior Experts

Grades 4 - 6
July 20 - 24, July 27 - 31

Junior Experts is a hands‑on summer camp for budding historians and scientists entering Grades 4 to 6 who are ready to dive into the world of museums! Campers step into the roles of curators, conservators, exhibition designers and researchers as they explore Alberta’s rich natural and human history. Throughout the week, they learn about and use various museum tools, investigate artifacts and specimens, design mini‑exhibits and discover how museums care for and share Alberta’s stories. Guided by museum professionals, Junior Experts offers an exciting behind‑the‑scenes adventure where curiosity is encouraged! Each week of camp will include a variety of games, crafts and opportunities for outdoor play.

Wonders of Nature (French Camp)

Grades 3 - 6
August 10 - 14

The wonders of nature await all campers in grades 3–6! Nature hides many wonders, and it's up to you to discover them during this camp! Spend a week at the Royal Alberta Museum exploring, discovering, and analyzing the wonders of the natural world and the marvels that surround us. From fossils and the use of natural resources to insects and their secrets, and much more! How are fossils formed? What are the unique adaptations of Alberta animals? Meet museum experts, conduct science experiments, and make new friends! All camps include outdoor activities, games, crafts, and gallery visits.

Wild About Animals

Grades 2 - 6
August 17 - 21, August 24 - 28

Wild About Animals transports campers into a week of fun and adventure! Do you know how many teeth a mammoth had at one time? What about the life span of the Giant African Millipede? Kiddos entering Grades 2 to 6 will explore all things animals as they get a closer look at the wonderful critters of the Bug Gallery, help care for animals like the rescue turtles and snakes and visit all of RAM’s galleries to investigate the many animal and human connections from past to present. Each week of camp will include a variety of games, crafts and opportunities for outdoor play.
