Do you have a pair of moccasins you no longer wear but keep for sentimental reasons? Have you inherited moccasins from a loved one? Preserving them with proper storage will allow you to carry the memory of not only the places they have been, but of the people who wore them.
Join our Steward of Indigenous Collections Coral Madge to learn some of the ways museums repair and prepare a pair of Moccasins for long term storage. Bring your own pair to prepare for a good retirement.
This class is best suited for moccasins ankle height or lower, with holes no bigger than a Toonie.
Please submit a short summary of your moccasins' condition so we prepare the correct materials. Due to the presence of museum collection objects no food or drink will be allowed in the workshop.
This workshop is open to anyone aged 12+, with no previous experience necessary. Participants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
This workshop is free for Indigenous Peoples. Select 'Public Indigenous Access' when registering.
