We offer a full complement of AV equipment, catering, and professional staff to ensure your event is a success.

Facility Rentals
Amiskwaciy Theatre & Theatre Lobby
Our new theatre is located on the second floor of the museum and is accessed by stairs or elevator. This space is suitable for presentations, lectures, meetings, award ceremonies, film screenings, or performances.
The theatre has 238 permanent seats with wheelchair area or a maximum seating capacity of 250 guests. It is fully equipped with:

- Hearing Assist System
- Computerized LED Stage lighting system
- Lectern
- Green Room
The theatre lobby, located on the second floor, can be rented as part of your overall theatre rental or on its own. This space is suitable for networking events, silent auctions, or book signings. This space is not available for seated meals.

Waterton Seminar Room, Wood Buffalo Seminar Room, & Elk Island Seminar Room
The seminar rooms on the second floor are perfect for private meetings, presentations, information sessions, and corporate training sessions. They come equipped with:

Café, Private Dining Room, & Fraser Courtyard
The café and adjoining spaces on the main floor are available for organizations or to the public for special events. These spaces are available to book outside of the museum's public hours. Catering must be ordered from the Museum Café as part of the event. Please note, the museum does not book weddings.

Full Building Rentals
Interested in getting the full museum after hours? The starting rate for exclusive access to the museum after our public hours is $5,000.00 (plus GST) per hour. Please contact us for more information.
Book Your Event With Us
Please contact our office to discuss your event requirements and available dates. We will provide you with a quote and you'll have the opportunity to place the date on hold for a maximum of two weeks. Additional charges may be added to the quote if additional equipment or time is required. The event will be considered confirmed once you have signed the rental agreement and have paid your deposit. If the event has not been confirmed after two weeks, the date will become available to other inquiries.
Appropriate Events
It is crucial to the operation of our building to ensure that facility rentals do not interfere with visitors to the Royal Alberta Museum. All events taking place at the museum, when the building is open to the public, must be family-appropriate. Any event content that could be considered controversial must be discussed with the museum prior to booking the event. The museum reserves the right to cancel your booking at any point without refund if the content is inappropriate for the museum's audience.
Insurance
You are required to obtain general liability insurance coverage in the amount of $2,000,000.00. If you are offering alcohol service to your guests, your liability insurance must include coverage of claims arising from the serving of alcohol and the related risks. You are required to provide proof of insurance two weeks prior to the event.
Cancelling Your Event
Our cancellation policy states that the deposit paid is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another date. If a booking is cancelled within 10 days prior to the event date, 50% of the rental fee is due and owing. If the event is cancelled within 5 days of the event date, 100% of the rental fee is due and owing.
Weddings
The Royal Alberta Museum does not book wedding ceremonies, receptions or photography sessions. Weddings including receptions and ceremonies are not permitted on the museum grounds. Photography sessions on the grounds are permitted. No reservations. No charge. It is important to note that the grounds are open for the public to enjoy. All patrons are asked to be courteous.
Outdoor Photography Sessions
The outside museum grounds are operated by Alberta Infrastructure and are open to the public for their enjoyment. Wedding ceremonies and receptions are not permitted on the grounds. However, the grounds may be used for photography sessions at no cost provided that special setup or props are not required. The outside grounds operate on a first come, first serve basis. Please be aware that this is a government facility and should the need arise for official government use, parties may be asked to relocate.
Indoor Photography Sessions
The Royal Alberta Museum does not book photography sessions. Tripods are not permitted in the building. Pictures of photographs or paintings are not permitted. Flash photography is not permitted. Photography sessions are not permitted to interfere with visitors to the Royal Alberta Museum.
Arranging For Catering
The Museum Café is the sole caterer for the Royal Alberta Museum. Contact us to arrange for catering as part of your room rental.
Alcohol Services
Cash bar and host bar services are available to book with us in conjunction with appropriate room rentals. Corkage bars are not permitted. We do not allow homemade wine or beer to be brought in to any events.
